Lucha was a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party (Revcom) and worked out of a small office on the South Side with her fellow organizers and revolutionaries. Together they tirelessly advocated for a revolution that would end that system, handing out flyers and denouncing social ills on street corners and in front of college campus buildings. In doing so, Lucha had had her fair share of run-ins with police officers. It made sense to her, since the role of the police was to suppress attempts by people like her to disrupt the social order that empowered them. Part of that order was the capitalism that held down communities like those on the South Side.
“How do you maintain a society with so much oppression and so much inequality? Well, there's a police force that keeps it that way.”
— Lucha Bright, organizer, Revcom
